HELLO

INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE

COVER.jpg

Communication channel between there and here

"Hello" is a communication channel between this world and the next.
Each time the receiver is lifted, a voice from beyond responds, connecting with someone who has passed away.

The speaker communicates directly with the listener.

During this interaction, a model analyzes the listener's emotions

and translates the received information into a visual representation, creating a unique space where this extraordinary communication takes place.

MOODBOARD

Energy does not disappear,
it only changes form

How does the other world looks like ?

Is there a connection to the physical world ?

With those question i started my research,
the visual one and the conceptual.

In order to figure out how to reach people feeling,
and still stay away from fantasy world

THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE WORLDS IS LIKE

AN EARTHQUAKE OCCURS BETWEEN
TWO TECTONIC PLATES

If the data of a meeting between two parts of the earth can be analyzed, what will the data of a meeting between the two worlds look like?

PROCESS STEP #1

CALL TO
ROEE

Roee, one of my best friends, was killed in combat on October 7.

He was the first one I wanted to call

in an attempt to record the data

from the interaction.

I divided my conversation into four feelings:

sad, hope, accept and anger

and like a seismograph I went with a pen between the feelings and emotions.

The contrast between what I said and what I felt was very powerful. I understood that there is a powerful tool of emotions here.

But what if Roee could answer back?

PROCESS STEP #2

AI MODEL TO VISUAL

To analyze emotions, a deep learning model in Python, DeepFace, is utilized. This model provides values for each emotion. Using P5.js, these emotions are plotted on axes, and the model is instructed to "draw" lines connecting the results.

When the model failed to recognize an emotion,

a black spot was generated,

akin to ink spreading on a page when a pen stops.

PROCESS STEP #3

SOUND WORK

Early on, I recognized that it would be more compelling to actually hear a conversation from the other side, from the next world.

I interviewed numerous bereaved individuals, asking them one question: "What would you most want to hear from your loved one on the other side?"

Based on their responses, I crafted a unique text for each persona - young man, young woman, old man and old woman.

These texts were then brought to life by actors portraying individuals who have passed away.

PROCESS STEP #4

2D TO 3D

During the sketching phase, I envisioned an encompassing and immersive environment.

To bring this idea to life, I transformed the data space into a three-dimensional realm

Like a world that exists neither here

nor there

Early steps for 3d phase

The sphere &
Camera movement

To create a sense of space surrounding the viewer, I used dynamic camera movement.

I focused on a pivotal moment in the conversation when the listener is prompted to respond to the speaker.

At this point, the listener is exposed to the full, expansive dimension.

PROCESS STEP #5

The creation of the visual space

USERS FLOW

Elevate your brand with our innovative graphic design solutions. We specialize in creating captivating visuals that resonate with your target audience. Our designs are tailored to convey your unique brand story and leave a lasting impression.

IPAD

The user fills in their name and gender on the iPad screen.

PHONE

The light intensifies on the phone as the user lifts the receiver.

THE CALL

A person known to the user from the next world answers, initiating a personal two-minute conversation. The identity is revealed randomly.

THE SCREEN

A camera activates and begins analyzing the listener's emotions, translating the data into a visual space displayed on the screen.

* The performance was a one-time presentation at the final exhibition of Shankar College.
No user data is stored, reflecting how a conversation with the next world is fleeting and ephemeral. I extend my gratitude to the hundreds of participants who embraced the experience, and especially to my loved ones on the other side -
this is all for you.
